If your team is providing value, but director+ don't know about it, your jobs are at risk. A big part of the job for eng leaders is internal marketing & PR.
Doing It Full-Time is a Gamechanger
This was the first time in the last 6 years where I could dedicate 100% of my time to job hunting.
I was able to talk to 15-20 companies vs 2-3.
This sped things up and forced everyone to move quickly

I don’t have much universal career advice to give - as each situation is unique, as are everyone’s circumstances - but both reverse interviewing your future team, and seeking out the last person who quit the position hired for are ones generally useful.
